Well, since Friday life has been a bit mental! Playing basketball in St Paul’s Cathedral has to be one of the highlights of my basketball career/life! It was surreal, loads of the press were there, asking us to do random things, all in the most spectacular place I have been in. The best bit about it was that we were on the front page of the Independent the next day…soooo cool!
Then Saturday we played USA at the University of East London, there were a reported 1,000 people there, the crowd was insane, very loud and cheering everything, such a buzz and a real taster of what the Paralympics will be like. We lost by 3 points, it was a great game though and good final prep for us.
Sunday we moved into the village. The village is amazing, really nice rooms and apartments, dining hall is huuuge! So much choice and I am lost pretty much every time I go in there, never can work out what I fancy! Free coke, oasis, innocent juices and water (of course!) everywhere you look! And just seeing all the athletes from around the world all here for the same thing, all getting along, I find it amazing how sport can bring people together like that.
We had our training sessions in the basketball arena and O2 yesterday and today and OMG it was soo cool! The O2 gave me chills up my spine, and to think that in two days time we will be playing there is just too exciting for words!
Must go to sleep now as we have a reasonably early start tomorrow. Unfortunately we won’t be at the opening ceremony because we have a game the next day, but please make sure you watch and support the rest of ParalympicsGB!
I will try and put some pictures up over the next few days but finding time to yourself is quite challenging at a games!
Love & Hugs
